Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has put the brakes on SBInet, the $3 billion plan to build a virtual fence along the US border with Mexico. "Not only do we have an obligation to secure our borders, we have a responsibility to do so in the most cost-effective way possible."

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. Would it be reasonable to not allow Senators any earmarks, but allow only housemembers who represent a proportionately equal amount of population an equal amount of earmark money. If they use 80% of their earmarked money they maintain their salaries, as they use more of their earmarked money they loose their office salaries proportionately .

Only native Americans have the right to build fences. We are a nation of immigrants- and if you say we came legally, let me remind you there were no immigration laws before the second half ot the nineteenth century when the first laws were passed to keep the Chinese, who had been "Shanghaied" to work on the railroads, wanted to stay and bring their families over. The immigration laws were racist from the get-go, favoring western Europeans, and trying to limit immigration from Eastern Europe and all of Asia.

you would be surprized at the number of american who are leaving. They feel the wierd right wing propaganda, the ruling corporations, the corrupt congess, and blind partisanship will prevent needed reforms till the last great empire crashes. A sucessfull culture is one in which efforts are made to ensure the well being of all...not just the elites. Look at genocide as deliberate effort for insurance, and workers comp carriers to raise profits. IRIS
