Mike Huckabee, a possible Republican presidential candidate in 2012, says the effort to allow gays and lesbians to marry is comparable to legalizing incest, polygamy and drug use.

We are concerned about a recent drift towards vitriol in the RSN Reader comments section. There is a fine line between moderation and censorship. No one likes a harsh or confrontational forum atmosphere. At the same time everyone wants to be able to express themselves freely. We'll start by encouraging good judgment. If that doesn't work we'll have to ramp up the moderation.

General guidelines: Avoid personal attacks on other forum members; Avoid remarks that are ethnically derogatory; Do not advocate violence, or any illegal activity.

Remember that making the world better begins with responsible action.

If you look in the book of genesis, you'll see that several men had multiple wives and God wasn't complaining. As best as I can tell, polygamy was the norm.

If anyone had paid attention to Huckabee early on, it would have been obvious what his beliefs and ideals are. He is Old Testament, if you will. He is judgmental, as so many of his ilk are, and very much in favor of his compatriots controlling this country and the beliefs of citizens.

Huckabee is a member of those who pushed the federal government to interfere with morals and social decisions and take those morals and decisions away from the average citizen.

Though I oppose Huckabee's view of gay marriage and activity on all accounts, Huckabee's casual inclusion of incest as equaling the others is puzzling. Often you are talking not only about sexual activity with incest that by definition occurs within a close family circle but often involves non-consensual sex with children by adults that is abusive to say the least and very damaging to the child. Just by personal observation I have not seen any gay couples within families and they usually have presented themselves to me as some of the most loving, compassionate, moral and steady people around. They are usually adults or even if gay and a teen are not in any way a bad person or persons. What is this guy smoking? OK, oppose gay marriage on moral grounds or on some tight definition of marriage. But do not demonize gay people. I am a heterosexual person and happily married like Huckabee wants and many of our most wonderful friends are gay people. What's the deal?

So now he is slandering the Prophets; Abraham, Moses, David and many others who were married to many wives? All men to which God spoke mouth to ear and back?

I thought he saw himself as a religious fellow. Apparently instead of the real issues he is seeking to exploit bigots and chowder heads by attacking Homosexuals and those who happily have more than one wife? Is he envious?

Sounds like he is a bit insecure sexually.

To put it directly, I wouldn't trust him around children. He represents a religious culture that is based on torture, lies, hypocrisy and down right evil.

Why is America cursed with such individuals? Is it Satan's way of doing thing when a nation is degraded into chaos.

Like others of his ilk, he speaks up on matters that don't rank in significance anywhere close to the national economy, foreign policy and so on. His traditional views on marraige are goofy because no one, no class and no religious institution has a lock on marraige. Marraige could very well become what ever the citizens of a free country decide it to be...emphasis on FREE. As for incest? If it involves consenting adults (and I am not advocating for it) just who does he think can actually stop it? As for legalizing drugs...why the heck not? Does he have any better alternative to inexpensive, publicly provided, safe doses of currently illegal drugs as opposed to the kind of criminality that is destroying so many people presently? Why not provide free drug treatment on demand, in abundance? Legalized drugs in Europe seems to be working out admirably and the rate of consumption has not increased that I know of. Huckabee, despite other options, has chosen to be stupid.

"Me thinks thou dost complain too much" He is probably a closet case.

I, for one, compare Huckabee and his likes to some evil curse arising from the ashes of the Dark Ages.

These so called "Christian" peachers and priest have given a bad rap to just about every that represent the Christian faith.

Just where is "God" when you need him?

Ah, how we digress. Evangelicals scare the crap out of me, as does the Vatican, Corporate America, etc., etc. I see cultists rearing their ugly heads, everywhere. What a sad, sad state of affairs. The majority of such "critics" are the ones eventually caught with their pants down around their ankles. Be patient ...
