The Coffee Party is still in its infancy; it only recently made the move from Facebook to reality. And just what it grows up to be is anybody's guess. Said Silver: "It is hard to calibrate how many people interested in the idea of the Coffee Party will be motivated to follow through with action."

It sounds to me, like they're off on the right foot. Issue position and leadership is lasting if it evolves via consensus. The challenge is patience and perseverance. Maybe the reason there are no viable 3rd party challenges to the Reich's two. Fledgling leadership must challenge their egos and bow to the leader apparent, the one capturing the mass imagination. Hope it grows legs.

I hope this grows legs too. The new silent majority could well be best represented by Coffee Party USA. Problem oriented politics instead of partisan oriented politics seems to be the gist of what I am hearing from interested people. Quite frankly, that the infrastructure is crumbling to pieces, from roads and bridges, to schools and other institutions, and yes, to even health care, can be agreed on by just about everyone. The issues ought to be: "do we want to solve these problems, or not?" and who better would there be than a populist/progressive movement? Just what do "the people" want? And who better to determine whether they get it or not...but "the people"...you know, those folks that the Founding Father's talked so much about?

At first I giggled over the name, the idea, but I'm all for it. I'm retired and an old stove, so I can't get out and hustle, but I'm interested and glad to hear about this action. Even tho I drink more tea than coffee, I've coffee ethics!
